The story we tell

Our purpose and vision

To see hearts fully surrendered to Jesus through radical generosity.

In order to understand what this really means we need to break it down:

Hearts

We focus on the heart because

  • This is where real transformation has to take place in order to release the type of generosity we’re seeking for people. Knowledge alone will never be enough. It must be both understood rationally and felt emotionally.
  • Jesus was always focused on the heart [Matthew 6:21]. Behaviours might change once or twice without heart transformation, but with it, and through the power of the Holy Spirit, they can be permanently changed.
Fully surrendered

Jesus demands our all and ‘fully surrendered’ is the entry point to the place of freedom we find as articulated in Matthew 11:28-30:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

To be fully surrendered means:

  • Acknowledging that money and how to manage it is a burden we carry
  • Recognising that Jesus is ultimately the only one who can transform and teach us
Accepting there is a better way we want to follow, despite any perceived cost
To Jesus

Our focus is on Jesus (and not God) for three reasons:

  • It immediately communicates our Christian faith
  • Our interpretation of his identity is clearer and more consistent across the regions

Jesus was the one who so frequently taught on the same issues we’ll be exploring

Radical generosity

We use this term because it communicates the depth of the transformation that we pray will take place. Radical generosity comes about because every aspect of an individual’s giving – their thought processes, attitudes and behaviours – have all been impacted. Their newfound generosity has begun to define their life and is flowing into everything they do; even their very identity.

The difference we want to be and see in the world: our vision

A world healed through generosity.

In order to understand what this really means we need to break it down:

World

Our ambition is undeniably huge.

What gives us hope is the heart transformation we see in the lives of individuals who participate in a Generosity Path experience. Those individuals have the potential to change their communities, countries and ultimately their world. The heart is where it all begins but it is never our endpoint.

The transformation of hearts

  • leads the poorest to realise that everyone has something to give.
  • motivates business leaders to release unimaginable funds for the Kingdom of God.
  • empowers ministry leaders to trust God for all their provisions and to teach their churches to do the same.

Communities: Collaboration and stories of transformative generosity lead groups to become communities who – like the early church described in Acts 4:32 – share all their resources. The effect is not only to begin breaking the cycle of poverty, but to further grow a movement that has the good news of Jesus at its heart.

Countries: The combination of these radically generous communities, coupled with the social, economic and political influence of heart transformed business leaders, leads to entire countries discovering, new, more prosperous ways of living.

The world: we believe that the transformation of hearts, communities and countries can ultimately change the world – economically, socially, politically and most important, spiritually. As hearts are opened to God’s healing work on a scale never seen before, with the local church at its core, lives are transformed, billions of dollars are released toward global ministry, and God’s kingdom breaks through on earth.

Healed

This is Gospel healing – restoration, justice and freedom through the generosity and grace of God. It leads to communities being united; the homeless housed; the hungry fed; the vulnerable protected and hearts changed through the good news of Jesus.

At its core is the compassion and love of Jesus, made real in our everyday life through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Generosity

Everything is rooted here, knowing that our generosity is only the reflection of God’s generosity to us. John 3:16 reminds us, “For God so loved the world that he gave…”

This is not just giving. It is radical generosity born out of love.

It is giving to the point that it costs.

It is giving that sees the bigger picture of God’s Kingdom coming on earth, and the recognition that we have been invited to participate in that.
