As our core product it is the primary way that people engage with our brand and – aligned to our vision for growth – continues to be refined to create the scalable, powerful, and accessible tool we need it to be.
Its strategic importance, and our heart to deliver a consistent JOG experience every time, wherever it is taking place in the world, has inspired us to create this guide to the product. The details outlined here will give you all you need to rollout the JOG experience in your region/country, as well as providing the language for us to communicate what the product is and how it is best experienced.
Our heart is always to deliver more than simply a positive experience. We want every Journey of Generosity to be life-changing for those who attend. It’s this that inspires our vision for the JOG:
It consists of 6 sessions and an optional Giving Group Workshop. Outlined in detail in the JOG framework (see Appendix One), listed here are the session titles, taking the participant on a journey that impacts head, heart, and hands, all inspired by the Holy Spirit.
Video presenters guide a group through the day, enabling anyone to confidently lead a group through the course, supported by our host training films.
Each session contains 1-2 video stories aligned to the session objective. Stories are interchangeable depending on:
NB. Online responses given by the host when registering their JOG will automatically select the most appropriate content for their group.
In each session, video content is supplemented by host-led discussion and space for reflection.
The Journey of Generosity (JOG) experience has been developed to suit a variety of formats, ensuring the flexibility you need to best engage your audience. Whatever format you choose, we’ll guide you through the process, supporting you at every step of the way. There are 3 formats to choose from:
You’ll run the JOG over 6 weeks, with 1 session of the JOG covered each week. At the end, you’ll also have the option of running an additional Giving Group workshop. In this format, participants meet on a weekly basis for sessions that last 1.5 – 2 hours each time and can be supplemented by Sunday teaching on a similar topic. This format works extremely well in churches with an existing small group structure, as the journey takes place within already established communities of trust, vulnerability, accountability, growing in Christian discipleship together.
Day 1 covers the first 4 sessions and then Day 2 completes sessions 5 and 6 (plus an optional additional Giving Group workshop). This can take place over a weekend, often experienced as a weekend away or in a church camp context. Alternatively, there’s space to have a break of 2-4 weeks between Day 1 and Day 2.
This format focuses on the first 4 sessions of the JOG only, and can be comfortably enjoyed in a single day. You can always consider coming back and following up the JOG at another time to run through sessions 5 and 6.
Optimal number: 6-12 participants
The heart transformation that comes through the JOG is dependent on the appropriate space for meaningful discussion and individual reflection. That’s why we believe the optimal JOG experience should accommodate a minimum of 6 people, and a maximum of 12 people. Any less than this and the discussion lacks variety of experience. Any more than this and the discussion simply has too many voices.
Once again, we recognise that this may be achieved in two ways:
An additional note:
Wherever possible, and if applicable, we would encourage participants to attend with their spouse or partner. Where money is shared in a household, any decisions are always better made together.
The primary role of the host is to facilitate the environment, discussion and moments of reflection that will play a key role in bringing heart transformation.
As support, our video presenters are there to guide you through the entire session. This includes the key task of identifying potential hosts amongst the participants and encouraging them to register an interest.
Most importantly, this is not a role that requires the sharing of knowledge. A personal story of generosity can be helpful at the appropriate time but should be the exception rather than the rule.
We truly believe that anyone with the right heart, and a commitment to viewing the host training videos and following the session outlines, can host an effective Journey of Generosity.
The Journey of Generosity is a simple, interactive experience that creates a space for people to have conversations about faith, life, and money.
This free event is available in a number of formats and has been designed so that it’s easy
for anyone to host. Through real-life stories of generous givers from around the world, an exploration of what the Bible has to say about giving, and thought-provoking activities, we pray you’ll be inspired and equipped to find new freedom through God’s gift of generosity.
To ensure you can fully enjoy that freedom, we commit never to ask you for money, or allow anyone else to, at our events. Your giving decisions are yours, and yours alone.
